Hi, my name is Sam Hom and I’m a native San Franciscan and lived in the Richmond for over 50 years. I’m a University of San Francisco graduate and retired Chief Compliance Officer for a major financial institution. My wife and I raised 3 adult children here in the Richmond and all 3 of my children went to public schools and Universities of California. I’m the Captain of my SAFE Neighborhood Watch Program, community activist, and a lifelong Warriors, 49ers, and Giants fan.
Hi my name is Tâm Ngô I’m a Vietnamese American, born and raised in East Side San Jose. I’ve lived in the Richmond since 2009 where I started several small businesses, served on several nonprofit boards, am an award winning filmmaker, and is currently program director for nonprofit Welcome Home Project.
Hi I’m Jeff Ambas, a second-generation Filipino American. While living in SoCal I started a theater group called The Improv Collective. In 2018, after visiting San Francisco annually for the Outside Lands festival, Jeffrey and his wife moved to the Richmond and decided to call San Francisco their home.
Born and raised in the Outer Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco, I attended Lowell High School and then the City College of San Francisco before transferring to the University of California, Berkeley. Coming from an immigrant family who stressed the importance of giving back to a newfound home, public service has always been my focus. I served as a Mayoral Appointee to the Youth Commission and on the Civil Grand Jury under the San Francisco Superior Court. Afterwards, I served as the Student Chancellor for the City College of San Francisco and then as Executive Director for a community advocacy 501c3 nonprofit called the San Francisco Community Alliance for Unity, Safety, and Education (SFCAUSE). Some of my past work for the community include co-founding the annual Bay Area Korean Chuseok Festival, writing and spearheading multiple city resolutions that were ratified by the Board of Supervisors, and advocating for the San Francisco Police Department to establish the Hate Crime Tip Line which covers nine languages. Today, I still live in the Outer Richmond, get coffee from La Promenade Cafe, and enjoy the occasional ice cream from Joe's.
Hi my name is Arthur Leung! I was born and raised in the Richmond District. I am a small business owner and I spend my free time volunteering to help other small business owners who are just starting out. Early in my career, I worked with dozens of Asian entrepreneurs in the Bay Area and I started a professional network dedicated to community service. I enjoy trying out new restaurants in the neighborhood and have been practicing muay thai for years.
